Setup

9×9 board. The king starts on the throne at the centre. 8 defenders in a cross around him, 16 attackers from four directions.

Moves

All pieces move orthogonally any number of squares. No one may pass through the throne or corners. Only the king may enter them. Attackers move first.

Capture

Rule Description
Custodial Piece between two opponents on an axis → captured.
Passive Partner Empty throne and corners act as opponents.
King on throne All four sides must be attackers.
King near throne Three attackers + throne as fourth.
King in open Two axial attackers — like a normal piece.

Victory

Defender: king reaches a corner.
Attacker: king is captured.
